Joint Technology Initiatives

Joint Technology Initiatives (JTI) provide a significant level of support for research over a long time frame. JTIs are

  • led by industry and backed by the private sector
  • bringing together diverse industrial, academic, research and institutional partners
  • creating stronger links between demonstration projects and fundamental and applied research projects, accelerating the pace of development

In the area of transport research, the Clean Sky JTIexternal link is bringing together EU-funded projects and major industrial stakeholders in the aeronautics and aerospace sectors, ensuring the highest level of European competitiveness. It is creating various technology demonstrators, including flight test vehicles that will be essential for successful market introduction.

The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertakingexternal link brings public and private interests together, accelerating hydrogen and fuel cell technology acquisition and deployment processes that are much needed to make transport greener. The reduced time to market will mean improvements for energy efficiency and security of supply, while greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced.
