The Nanosciences, nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production technologies (NMP) programme makes major contributions to the Europe 2020 Flagship Initiatives "Innovation Union" and "Industrial Policy for the Globalisation Era". It also contributes to the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials (EIP), while part of its activities is guided by the strategy for key enabling technologies.
Support has been provided to research on the extraction, processing and substitution of raw materials, including the reduction of waste and recycling (EIP on Raw Materials). Support actions promoting the networking of major stakeholders and supporting standardisation were also launched. International cooperation on advanced materials was achieved with Eastern Partnership countries and members of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
