The PERSEUS project assesses the impact of human activity on the Mediterranean and Black Seas. It will develop a framework of adaptive policies that will support policymaking including new scenario-based tools to be used in crisis situations, such as oil spills. This would lead to better management of European seas and contribute to achieving the main goal of "Good Environmental Status" by 2020.
The ENFIRO project explores the alternatives to specific brominated flame retardants. The project team delivered data on substitute options including the ease of production and application, and environmental safety. Three flame retardant products in different applications were studied. The findings suggest that suitable alternative substances could be used by the industry in products such as electronic equipment, specific plastics, paints and textiles.
