Scientific evidence for policy-making

Enhanced dialogue between researchers and policy-makers is a sine qua non if the projects funded by the Framework Programmes are to bring new knowledge in the social sciences to bear on the policy-making process throughout the EU. This publication draws on the results of a wide ranging series of interviews with politicians, senior advisors and knowledge transfer specialists in proposing solutions for overcoming the contextual, cultural and structural obstacles which make this dialogue difficult. Policy usefulness and effective dissemination of project results will be key drivers in ensuring that the Framework Programmes support the attainment of the ambitious social and economic targets set by the Lisbon Agenda.
