The project NOPOOR aims at rethinking the poverty concept and at developing strategies that may lead the people out of poverty. The project will address the multiple dimensions of poverty in their processes and interactions.
The research will build new and broader knowledge about the nature and extent of poverty; review the poverty concept of MDG (Millennium Development Goals) and generate future scenarios for stakeholders and policymakers. Therefore, NOPOOR will accompany the EU agenda for its policy against poverty by consultations, guidance notes, and policy briefs on issues relating to the program.
Twenty experienced partners are involved in the project, which includes ten teams from developing and emerging countries in three regions (Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia). These countries have implemented different poverty reduction policies, and this will form the basis for the comparative analyses and case studies.
