European Research for Sustainable Development

In line with the mirror effect between EU SDS and FP7, the need for putting research at the service of sustainable development is highlighted in several leading EU policy documents.

The possible approaches on how to have research contributing to sustainable development have been discussed at the occasion a workshop with Member States and Associated Countries. This topic is further explored in the RD4SD exercise.

This section also allows you to browse through the papers, presentations and reports of the conference “Sustainable Development: a challenge for European Research” organised in May 2009 by the Directorate-General for Research. This high-level meeting gathered a large and multidisciplinary audience to reflect on the ways and means for putting the European research system at the service of sustainable development.
