Although every effort
has been made to ensure that these data conform to
the international standards, some exceptions do occur.
For example, a (d) has been put next to a country
where the definitions vary for all the data presented.
Otherwise individual data items have been flagged
to indicate an anomaly or exception to the standard
definitions.
Please ensure that
you refer to the methodological notes and flags when
you are drawing conclusions based on these data, in
particular the countries with the smallest scientific
populations.
- All data are represented in Head Count (HC), unless
otherwise stated
- If data for the reference year (y) were not available,
the year was selected following the rule: y+1 (i.e.
the following year); y-1 (i.e. the preceding year);
