Gender difference, gender equality

The existing differences between women and men are of a biological and social nature. Sex refers to the biologically determined differences between women and men. Gender refers to the social differences. These are learned, are changeable over time and have wide variations both within and between cultures. Gender equality refers to a situation in which all human beings are free to develop their personal abilities and make choices without limitations set by strict gender roles. The different behaviour, aspirations and needs of women and men are equally valued and favoured.
