Icelandic Centre for Research (contact: Thorsteinn BJORNSSON, firstname.lastname@example.org )
Rendez-vous with a researcher… for a drink in a science café (free discussions on burning issues)during which scientists will take your hand to bring you in the world of science, showing their works, illustrating experiments and offer you the opportunity of “putting your hands on”…
Enter the world of science: special activities offered for children, who will have the opportunity of “touching” everything and moving around completely freely… they also will enjoy the awarding of the best drawings of the competition(organised amongst primary schools, the best drawings being published in a newspaper broadly distributed on 19 September) which will take place before the event, and a children theatre group will “caricature” the researchers and make fun of all the traditional stereotypes on them
Picture a researcher… the photography competition will regard secondary school students (16-20) under the title “image of researchers”, a selection of the pictures taken will be published in a newspaper distributed to most Icelandic households on 19 September, the best ones being selected by a panel of professional photographers…
Who said researchers are isolated, untouchable, outside the real world and not having humour? Join the Icelandic researchers’ night and touch their reality!
