The Science Carnival scheduled on 23 September 2005, in coincidence with the European Researchers’ Night, will take place in central Lund, where tents and university buildings will be filled with the following activities:
  • Be a detective – solve a mysterious crime with the help of scientists and their tools. Meet archaeologists, physicists, philosophers and many more. Dig up clues, check DNA, translate mystic languages and other exciting puzzles to find out who did it and why!
  • A young girl, the official image of Lund Science Carnival
Science cafés – scientists will be discussing interesting topics live in front of an audience, around the theme ‘The Future - threat and/or opportunity?’
  • Fråga-Lund (‘ask-Lund’) – a 40-year-old tradition in Lund – ask scientists on stage questions about almost anything.
  • ... and more – there will also be a multitude of scientists from all faculties participating in lectures, music quizzes, art, film, video projections of both DNA-mutations and art projects. You will be able to build a skeleton from real bone, test Roman armour, and listen to storytelling about Greek myths.

The public will be entertained by the professional voice imitator Anders Mårtensson, who will help scientists to figure out if voice recognition programs can be fooled.

You can consult the full programme of this event at the Lund University website.
