All over Europe
22 September 2006
Give your brain some time off!
The 2005 Researchers' night, held on 23 September 2005, proofed to be a big success: thousands of people, from children to elderly, from scientists to non scientists, from journalists to politicians … took part in the myriad of vents organised on that day all over Europe.
At the light of this beautiful experience, the European Commission decided to celebrate its researchers also in 2006 and to provide funding to those projects that would be considered the most attractive and innovative ones.
30 projects have been chosen, covering about 100 European locations, from Iceland to Israel, from Sweden to Naples, all offering to the large public a unique opportunity to discover researchers and science like they never dreamed to meet them…
Hidden treasures of museums and labs will be unveiled, researchers will play music, exhibit their paintings, perform theatre, exchange about their passions (sometimes very unexpected…), play guides for candidates scientists, discuss about the current challenges of science…, let you appreciate their cooking talents, and also reflect together with you on the current challenges of their fascinating job.
You will find information on all the events with a simple click on the country list and be able to find this closer to your home… be aware, this is just an "appetizer" and there are many other surprises waiting for you in all these places where all researchers are in their "starting blocks" to let their hair down and take your hand to have fun together…
Why should your feet be the only parts of your bodies to go out dancing and partying on a Friday night?
Your brain also needs to let its hair down! Give your grey matter a treat and take it out for the night of 22 September 2006!
Would you, on the other hand, have ideas to organise a Researchers' night on 22 September, just submit your proposal by filling in the simple form attached and return it to Colette.firstname.lastname@example.org . This will give you the opportunity of benefiting from publication on this site and supply of free of charge promotional material from the European Commission.
