Compartmentalisation of the soil environment

Compartmentalisation of the soil environment into: bulk soil and rhizosphere (A). An evaluation of factors, influencing physiological and molecular responses (B) of introduced soil bacteria are schematically shown, which are specifically related to one of these compartments. Promoters from both Pseudomonas species responding to these signals (C) are isolated and will be used for the construction of environmentally regulated cryIVB and host killing genes (for instance the gef gene).
