On 05 October the European research network of excellence EADGENE will be launched at INRA’s site at Jouy-en-Josas in France. The production of high quality safe food, respecting animal welfare and the environment, is the primary objective of European livestock and aquaculture industries. Particular focus is to be placed on the improvement of animal health. However, relevant genomics research is fragmented and the restructuring of the European research capacity is required. With 13 partners from 10 countries the European Network of Excellence EADGENE brings together scientific excellence to make a real difference to animal and human health, and improve the quality of animal products.

For information on the EADGENE network, please see http://www.eadgene.org.
