The present Call for Proposals aims at funding projects in the area of law enforcement information exchange.
Project applications submitted under the present Call for Proposals must address the priority of improving law enforcement information exchange by interconnecting Member States' Passenger Information Units to facilitate the exchange of PNR data among themselves and with Europol.
The present Call for Proposals aims to supplement the financial support afforded by the EU through previous funding programmes concerning the exchange of PNR data, notably the related Actions listed in the National Programmes under ISF Police Shared Management and the "Pilot programme for data exchange of the Passenger Information Units" (Call for proposals HOME/2014/ISFP/AG/LAWX) and "PIU.net: Advancement and Enhancement of Information Exchange" (Call for proposals ISFP-2016-AG-PNR) under ISF Police Union Actions.
The present Call for Proposals concerns transnational projects aimed at increasing the capacity of the personnel of Member States' PIUs to effectively exchange all relevant PNR data between PIUs and between PIUs and Europol, by using the technical systems that will be available for this purpose.
Eligible activities will include training actions, study visits, workshops and conferences, aimed at enhancing the human capability to assess the relevance and necessity of exchanging PNR data, as well as the ability to use specific IT solutions, including Europol's Secure Information Exchange Network Application – SIENA. Activities resulting in sharing of experience and best practices between Member States on the exchange of PNR data among PIUs and the creation and adaptation of models and criteria used in the context of the automated processing of PNR data also fall within the scope of the present Call for Proposals.
