Dr. Kovačić, a Marie Curie CIG fellow, is leading the Brainci project focused on how human brains process sounds and speech. The main aim of the project is to enhance hearing for deaf and hard of hearing people by improving the quality of an electronic device which translates sounds into electronic signals.
In doing so, the quality of sound perception increases for deaf and hard of hearing patients. The Marie Curie grant has given him the opportunity to work in an outstanding laboratory at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. His research aims at developing new technology for the deaf. Dr Kovačić is hearing impaired and has a cochlear implant. Last but not least, Dr Kovačić co-organises the Marie Curie Researchers'Night event in Split, Croatia.
