Non academic sector, including SME, may not necessarily have the facilities, financial resources or human capital to run their research projects as they would like to. However, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions enable them to for example:

  • collaborate with research organisations
  • have access to equipment only found in academic institutions
  • associate some of the highly skilled researchers found in academia with the research projects of the firm.

Applying cutting-edge science and technology from creative academic groups is a key element of successful innovation. We know that well-trained, entrepreneurially-minded researchers who can move between academic and other settings are essential to this successful collaboration. Therefore the MSCA are promoting business-academia collaborations that give researchers adequate skills and opportunities to contribute to company growth. Through the MSCA, firms can recruit or simply host researchers during their fellowships (with or without PhD), as well as participating in staff exchange programmes that enable the people-to-people transfer of advanced knowledge.

A short video of testimonials from companies that participated in the predecessor programme to the MSCA is online.
For example: "For me there are two main benefits for participating […] we have 100% funded researcher work and we have the chance to hire people and make them part of our team" - Anton Fuchs, Department Manager at Virtual Vehicle.

Among the four MSCA you will find the possibility to:

  • Find alternative paths to innovation – risk research without the risk
  • Collaborate and benefit from the experience and knowledge of academic partners
  • Take advantage from state-of-the-art and high quality equipment of universities and research institutions
  • Access to R&I talents
  • Actively direct research projects towards the needs of the company
