Sharing the fruits of European co-operation with the worldCo-operation is the cement that holds together the European Union. The modern European ideal is all about working together for our mutual and collective good. This is particularly relevant in the scientific realm, where international co-operation (INCO) for sustainable development has long been a central policy aim. INCO delivers massive benefits both to Europe and the outside world. Knowledge is not exhausted through use, it grows. Sharing creates win-win situations. In recognition of this, the international dimension is integrated into every theme of the EU's Research Framework Programmes allowing third countries to take part in its activities.
