European Summit on Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing

SP 8b: Health Workforce

Tuesday 10 March 2015
Time: 09:30 to 10:30

The goal of the session was to identify future skills needs of health and care professionals and what actions policy-makers, health professionals, education and training providers could take to identify appropriate skills going beyond traditional medical and nursing boundaries.

The session debated the following challenges:

  1. Avoiding the skills gap: planning future skills to meet needs of an ageing population (e-skills, patient involvement, broader skills set including prevention and chronic diseases)
  2. Adjusting education and training programmes and going beyond traditional professional boundaries
  3. Need for guidelines and research at MS and European level?
