Photo of article Better ethical practices for using big data

The EU-funded E-SIDES project gathered together many different industry players who use big data as well as data researchers. It developed a set of guidelines on how to use this data without overstepping ethical boundaries.

Photo of article Artificial intelligence and freedom of expression: implications for democracy

The use of algorithms in digital media to personalise content has important implications for the democratic role of the media. EU-funded research is helping to ensure that these powerful new tools are harnessed for the benefit of society as a whole.

Photo of article Big data offers big gains for transport operators

A huge EU-funded project has demonstrated how big data and artificial intelligence could transform Europe's transport sector, cutting costs and fuel consumption on road, rail, air and sea while boosting operational efficiency and improving customer experience.

Photo of article Machines help humans take control

Employees can often have difficulty working with sophisticated machinery in modern factories. EU-funded researchers have now devised a control interface that can adapt to the experience and abilities of any operator.

Photo of article Roboter helfen Pflanzen, in urbanen Räumen zu gedeihen

Photo of article Robotics to help plants thrive in urban environments

Crowded cities aren't exactly optimal environments for plants to thrive. However, a team of EU-funded researchers is using robotics to help plants automatically grow into the unnatural shapes, sizes, and configurations that urban environments demand. As a result, cities could soon benefit from a robust green infrastructure used for everything from food production to climate control.

Photo of article Rośliny w środowisku miejskim, czyli zielona infrastruktura dzięki robotyce

Photo of article La robotica aiuta le piante a prosperare negli ambienti urbani
