Cockayne syndrome (CS) is a devastating, inborn, progressive neurodegenerative disorder with a very early onset in childhood. The EU-funded project CHROMOREPAIR helped shed light on underlying issues in CS and related disorders, which may ultimately open the way for novel diagnostic options and treatment targets.

The ABIOMATER project will explore how magnetically controlled metamaterials - engineered materials with properties not found in nature - could be used to improve medical devices and implants, upgrading treatment options for patients. The NOMORFILM project is looking into whether biomolecules in marine microalgae can combat bacterial and fungal infections associated with prosthetic devices and catheters.
