Funding R&D
Other Research Funding bodies
- ERC – The European Research Council is the first European funding body set up to support investigator-driven frontier research. It supports the very best, truly creative scientists, scholars and engineers, encouraging them to be adventurous and take risks in their research. The ERC complements national funding activities and is a flagship component of the EU's 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7).
- ESF – The European Science Foundation provides a common platform for its 79 member organisations to advance European research and explore new directions. Its purpose is to promote high-quality science in Europe and to foster scientific leadership.
- COST – The intergovernmental body European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) facilitates EU-level coordination of nationally funded research. It helps to reduce fragmentation in European research investments and opens the European Research Area to global cooperation.
- EUREKA – This European network for market-oriented industrial R&D and innovation challenges the migration of researchers to Asia and North America. Its 38 member countries offer support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), large industry, universities and research institutes. The new products, processes and services that it helps bring to market make Europe economically strong and socially sound.
