Conference “creating markets from research results” - European Patent Office - 06-07 May 2013, Munich, Germany

One essential prerequisite for enhancing the application of the knowledge generated by academic research is the effective management of intellectual property (IP) to facilitate the transfer of knowledge into economy and help avoid any incentive bias between researchers and industry that might hamper further value creation. The conference aims to:

  • promote understanding and awareness of the importance of IP policies and procedures for the long-term strategy and mission of universities and public research institutions.
  • promote the establishment of structures which will allow the implementation of IP management in universities.
  • identify novel practices for fostering and accelerating the transfer, exploitation and commercialization of knowledge with a view to developing international best practice.
  • encourage closer collaboration between universities and industry.

The conference is targeted at senior-level decision-makers concerned with the commercialization of public research, including national representatives of technology transfer offices (TTOs), representatives from ministries for education and research, higher education councils and funding agencies, the business and industry communities, and national patent offices.
