Under Horizon 2020, future stakeholders will have the opportunity to benefit from complementary research and innovation policy and funding measures through the Structural Funds. The condition is that the measures are included in the regional and national strategies currently being written by the regional and national authorities.
The EC recently organised a seminar on the new Smart Specialisation approach in the Structural funds, and the possible synergies with Horizon 2020. Presentations were given by representatives of some NMP European Technology Platforms (ETPs) and staff from the Regional and Urban Policy DG, and the “Regional dimension of Innovation” Unit of DG Research and Innovation.
