2nd Workshop of the Innovation Network for Substitution of Critical Raw Materials

The CRM_InnoNet project funded by the European Commission under the FP7 programme is organizing the second Innovation Network Workshop in the field of substitution of critical raw materials. Special focus will be given to strategic sectors such as Energy, Transport and ICT with the presence of key speakers as well as participatory activities.

ONE Conference Brussels 2014: Policies (R)Evolution and Every European Digital

The Future has begun. Member States and regions must lose no time in preparing the next generation of EU programmes for growth, says Commissioner Hahn after MEPs' vote on radical reform of EU Regional Policy in July 2013.

The new programming period brings new investment budgets for Member States, seeking synergies between Regional Policy and Horizon 2020 in order to maximise the innovation opportunities. The data-driven economy can provide Europe with a chance to emerge from the multifaceted crisis with new capabilities. Are Europeans ready for the Data Revolution? Are politicians able to make informed choices and manage changes?

The ONE Conference is facilitating the joint effort of EU partners to build links between information networks and ICT Observatories for reaching ambitious common objectives of Europe 2020. The event is taking place under the auspices of the Czech Ambassador to the EU.

DoCEIS'14 - 5th Doctoral Conference on Computing, Electrical and Industrial Systems

7-9 April 2014, Costa de Caparica, Portugal

Technological Innovation for Collective Awareness Systems Innovation and Digital Business Innovation are key pillars in sustainable growth. DoCEIS 2014 focuses on socio-technical systems capable of harnessing collective intelligence for promoting innovation and taking better, informed and sustainability-aware decisions: Collective Awareness Systems.
These systems leverage the emerging "network effect" by combining open social media, distributed knowledge creation and data from real environments ("Internet of Things"), thus linking objects, people and knowledge in order to foster new forms of social and business innovation. DoCEIS 2014 is aimed as an international forum for presentation of research results coming out of PhD works, and a space for discussion of post-graduation studies, PhD thesis plans, and practical aspects of a PhD work.

Urban Megatrends and Future Challenges for European Urban Areas

27 March 2014, The Committee of the Regions - Rue Belliard 101, Brussels

The aim of the event is to bring together representatives from the JPI Urban Europe and the European Institutions as well as from other urban networks, along with high-profile scientific and policy experts to discuss issues relating to megatrends and future urban challenges.

The JPI Urban Europe has recently finalised two studies on global megatrends and their long term impacts on European cities that will be presented and discussed at the seminar. The scientific background paper gives and in-depth analysis of urban challenges. The Urban Megatrends policy paper indicates that global megatrends, including climate change and demographic and economic development, will have a regionally differentiated impact on European urban regions and implications for policy-making at all levels.
