TIPS workshop “From research to market - key factors on innovation”
30 July 2014, Rome, Italy
The aim of the workshop is to present the TIPS findings on the exploitation approaches of EU-funded project and discuss the process “from research to innovation”. A number of case studies, namely recently completed EU-funded projects whose results have been exploited or their exploitation has been initiated, will also be highlighted.
International Conference on Traffic and Transport Engineering (ICTTE 2014)
27-28 November 2014, Belgrade
ICTTE Belgrade 2014 will be held on 27-28th November 2014 in Belgrade (Serbia) and will be co-hosted by the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering.
ICTTE Belgrade 2014 will gather researchers, scientists and engineers whose fields of interest are traffic and transport engineering, and should provide them a good platform for discussion, interactions and exchange of information.
First announcement, save the date! Conference on Transport Safety: societal challenges, research solutions
4-5 December 2014, Palazzo Ducale – Genoa, Italy
This Conference, convened by the Italian EU Presidency and the European Commission, will gather stakeholders, transport professionals and policy makers from the different transport modes, to assess the future needs for transport safety, and identify priorities for activities in Horizon 2020 and beyond.
The conference will address both the safety challenges specific to each mode, common issues and concerns that cut across them – notably human factors, automation and data management – taking into account societal challenges, policy requirements, technological developments and economic benefits.
This event is expected to provide useful input towards the definition of a shared European R&I agenda, with pointers to be taken into account in the preparation of next Horizon 2020 Work Programmes, with a view to ensure the proper deployment and implementation of safety solutions resulting from research activities.
Smart, Green and Integrated Transport Information Day, save the date!
2 February 2015, Brussels
To support the preparation of proposals, DG RTD's Transport Directorate of the is organising an Information Day on Monday 2 February 2015 from 9 AM untill 6 PM in the European Commission Charlemagne building, rue de la Loi 170, in Brussels.
The aim of the day is to inform potential participants in the next round of calls under the Smart, Green and Integrated Transport Challenge of the new Horizon 2020 Framework Programme and to offer opportunities for networking.
The sessions will deliver a brief presentation of the surface transport, the aviation and the cross-cutting topics of the Transport challenge Work Programme 2015.
Information will be given on the Evaluation Guidelines and on the legal and financial Rules for Participation covering all aspects from the submission of a proposal to the signature of a grant agreement.
The participants will have the opportunity to address specific technical questions related to the Work Programme 2015 to European Commission's project officers.

European Maritime Day - DG RTD session
19-20 May 2014, Bremen, Germany
Join us at the European Maritime Day on 19-20th May in Bremen!
This year’s European Maritime Day will focus on “Innovation driving Blue Growth” and on this occasion the EU Commission Directorate General for Research and Innovation is organising a thematic session on 20 May in Bremen, Germany, titled “Ocean technologies: an investment for sustainability”.
The session will be a discussion forum on possible ways to enhance European marine and maritime leadership through innovation and research.
It will present concrete examples that can contribute to unlock the innovation potential of seas and oceans in a sustainable way. The event will also be the place to identify innovation challenges and to demonstrate the ocean technologies' innovation and growth potential for multiple "Blue Growth" sectors and their benefit for society.

Several EU projects such as ECO2, MICROB3, BONUS or Sea For Society will take part in the exhibition while Commissioner Damanaki will present the awards to the winner of each of the 14 countries participating in the MARLISCO 's project video competition.

Since 2008, the European Maritime Day is celebrated across Europe on 20 May to raise awareness on the maritime sectors and support an integrated approach to maritime affairs.
It is the European flagship event on the Integrated Maritime Policy with participation of high-level speakers from all over Europe.

Transport Research Arena 2014: Innovate Mobility, Mobilise Innovation
14-17 April 2014, Paris
The 5th edition of TRA will take place in Paris and will be a major event where Horizon 2020 will be discussed in depth, under the theme: "Transport Solutions: From Research to Deployment". The Transport Research Arena is a major conference on transport research in Europe held every 2 years.
First conference The Ocean of Tomorrow projects: what results so far?
26 March 2014, Brussels
On 26th March 2014, the Directorate General for Research and Innovation is organising the conference The Ocean of Tomorrow projects: what results so far?
This first conference will present early results of four ambitious and multi-disciplinary projects with a focus on understanding, mitigating and adapting to changes in the marine environment. Two projects dealing with the sustainable exploitation of marine biodiversity will also be showcased.
The event will include a panel discussion with high-level experts to take stock and to put forward their views concerning how marine and maritime research could be developed under Horizon 2020.
