International Year of Family Farming: lessons learnt and post-2014 priorities

Cirad, a French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development, organises once per year an after work meeting bringing together EU officials, researchers and other stakeholders to share views and reflect on agricultural research and global challenges.


The 2014 edition is dedicated to "The International Year of Family Farming: lessons learnt and post-2014 priorities".

Innovation in waste management: Linking the ‘circular economy’ and the ‘waste hierarchy'

26 November 2014, Espoo, Finland

The workshop addresses the macro environmental effects of the diffusion of non-landfill waste management technologies for MSW by adopting an LCA approach. During the session, the participants will explore possible changing pressures from shifting to non-landfill MSW management technologies.

The presentations will explore observed ex post trends (1996-2011) and on ex ante scenarios (2012-2030 and beyond). The experts and guests are invited to discuss policy and economic implications of (saved) external costs from shifting to non-landfill MSW management technologies.

2015 calls Information Day for Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge: Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials

17 November 2014, Brussels

This Infoday is for anyone who wants to carry out a European project related to the Societal Challenge 5 and would like to know more about the objectives of Work Programme 2015 and application procedures.

The purpose of the Information Day is to present the calls under Work Programme 2015 to the potential applicants as well as to provide guidance on the preparation and submission of proposals. Six brokerage sessions planned in the afternoon will be an opportunity for participants to network with other potential applicants.

The Infoday will take place in the Albert Borschette Conference Centre, rue Froissart 36, 1040 Brussels.

Languages The event will take place in English. No interpretation is foreseen.

Travel and Accommodation Please note that while attendance is free of charge, you will have to cover your your travel and accommodation expenses and will need to make your own arrangements. We recommend to book your hotel early.


India-EU workshop III Coastal zone management and impact on society

6-9 October 2014, Kerala, India

Nansen Environmental Research Centre India (NERCI) is organising a workshop as part of the Indo-European Research Facilities for studies on marine ecosystems and climate in India (INDO-MARECLIM), Project of European Union FP-7, to discuss the current status of work on Coastal zone management and impact on society and to explore possibilities for collaboration in the future.
