European Researchers' Night 2014
26 September 2014, All across Europe!
European Researchers' Nights are events dedicated to popular science and fun learning. They are an opportunity to meet researchers, talk to them, and to find out what they really do for society, in interactive and engaging ways. This can be through hands-on experiments, science shows, learning activities for children, guided visits of research labs, science quizzes and more.
They take place every year simultaneously in several hundred cities all over Europe and beyond.

Virtual Physiological Human Conference 2014
9-12 September 2014, Trondheim, Norway
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is very pleased to host the 3rd VPH conference by the Virtual Physiological Human Institute. This biannual conference series grew out of the FP7 Virtual Physiological Human Network of Excellence. It has become one of the major instruments for maintaining the coherence and momentum of the highly multidisciplinary VPH community.
The members of the VPH community subscribe to the view that substantially improved healthcare can only be achieved through converged efforts of the life sciences, the mathematical sciences and engineering. On 14 January 2014 in Strasbourg, Members of the European Parliament specifically endorsed the work of the VPH Institute by recognising the role of the VPH initiative towards improving healthcare in their eHealth Action Plan 2012-2020. VPH2014 participants may thus enjoy the rare claim that they contribute to an initiative that has earned the support of the elected representatives of EU citizens and is directly supported in EU policy.

An additional attraction will be a trip to Cargotec factory and visiting laboratories of the West Pomeranian University of Technology.
Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads - 5 Day Course
14-18 July 2014, Bristol (UK)
The course is being run as part of the EU funded ALPES (Aircraft Loads Prediction using Enhanced Simulation) Marie-Curie Initial Training Network.
- To introduce the main concepts of Aeroelasticity and Loads, and the multi-disciplinary methods needed for their study
- To provide an understanding of the main principles of Aeroelasticity and Loads analysis by:
- using simple mathematical models to illustrate basic theoretical concepts,
- showing the maths – but not explaining all of the detail and derivations, instead focusing on the connection with the physics introducing relevant terminology and methods, and
- explaining the analysis, testing and certification processes used by the aerospace industry
- To include examples on some of the key topics.
