The “Smart Grids Congress” is the main forum in Spain about Smart Grids. The congress covers a wide range of aspect related to the development of the Smart Grids, including energy efficiency, security, usability, etc. as well as the integration of new services such as: Electrical Vehicles, Smart Meters, Smart Buildings, etc., all from both a legal, technical and business perspective. The main content of the congress is based on a call for papers from which the technical board selects the papers to be presented in the congress. Additionally several Round Table discussions and Key Note speeches take place.
Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) Info Day - Registrations are now open!

An Information Day on the Research PPPs on Factories of the Future, Energy-efficient Buildings, Green Vehicles and Sustainable Process Industry will take place on 21 October 2014 in Brussels. The aim of the event is to give the research community an overview of ongoing activities, and to support the preparation of proposals for the 2015 calls. The info day will also offer plenty of opportunities for networking.
New ways of delivering HE - MOOCs and technology-enhanced learning

This conference looks at the future for Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs) - and the increased use of technology-enhanced learning more widely in Higher Education. It comes as government pushes for the UK to become a world leader in online learning and also follows a Higher Education Academy review of flexible pedagogies, with the technology-enhanced learning strand published in January.
Sessions will focus on the development of MOOCs, including their potential for online learning and Transnational Education, as well as concerns around implementation and accreditation of modules and the possible threat they pose to traditional teaching. Other key themes are likely to include outcomes and recommendations from FutureLearn's BETA pilot courses running currently. Delegates will also discuss ways in which Higher Education is currently taught and the increased influence technology is having on this, for example the greater use of blended and e-learning. We are delighted that Dr Alison Le Cornu, Academic Lead, Flexible Learning, Higher Education Academy and Stephen Haggard, Author, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Research Paper, The Maturing of the MOOC and Independent Consultant, Online Learning have agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar, together with a senior speaker confirmed from HEFCE.
