One of the novelties under Horizon 2020 will be the launch of a full-scale pilot to test a 'Fast Track to Innovation' instrument aiming to speed up the time from idea to market and to increase the participation of industry, SMEs and first time applicants. The pilot will be set up in 2015 and assessed as part of the interim evaluation of Horizon 2020.
DG Research and Innovation is organising a dedicated workshop with experts and stakeholders to prepare the setting up the 'Fast Track to Innovation' pilot with the aim to test this approach in a fully open and transparent way and in line with the potential beneficiaries' needs.

The Brokerage Event for the first Horizon 2020 ENERGY calls will be organized by C-ENERGY+ (http://www.c-energyplus.eu/) on 6 December 2013 in conjunction with the H2020 Energy Infoday 2013 of the European Commission (5 December) in Brussels! The event will target a wide spectrum of companies, universities and researchers from Europe and beyond and will foster the creation of consortia for the upcoming Horizon 2020 Energy calls on the 3 Focus areas:
• ENERGY EFFICIENCY
• COMPETITIVE LOW CARBON ENERGY
• SMART CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
The event is free of charge, registration mandatory by 20 November.
29 November 2013, Strasburg
The French and German National Contact Points (NCPs) and Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Alsace, in collaboration with the Europe Alsace Network, will organise an EU Brokerage Event on Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) in Horizon 2020, with a focus on Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Advanced Manufacturing and Processing. Participants will have the opportunity to present their own project concepts and to meet representatives from companies/SMEs, universities and research organisations in order to exchange ideas during pre-arranged meetings. The aim is to pave the way for future co-operations and European projects including call topics for 2014 and 2015.

The European Commission (Research & Innovation DG - Directorate Environment) is organising an InfoDay on 12 November on the Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 5: Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials.
The event aims to highlight the novelties of the 2014-2015 Work Programme and will provide guidance on the preparation and submission of proposals.
This InfoDay covers only 2014 topics. A seperate InfoDay for 2015 topics will be organised at a later stage.
