Annual Transport NCPs Meeting

This meeting is only open to National Contact Points for transport research!
In accordance with the Guiding Principles for National Contact Points and complementary to the support function of the ETNA project, the Annual Transport NCPs Meeting will provide detailed information on the open calls and recent developments in the European Transport Policies, relevant for the NCPs. The agenda will be provided in the following weeks. -
Transport and ageing research summit

The conference will bring together members of the European Parliament, representatives of governmental organisations from 20 member states, researchers from European, Australian and Japanese universities, representatives of European institutions and business organisations as well as NGOs.
Under the patronage of Dr. Dieter-L. Koch (Member of the European Parliament) and hosted by the Committee of the Regions the conference will provide a forum for constructive exchange on the following topics:
- The political challenge and opportunities of an ageing European society
- State of the art and analyses in EU27 and international sectors
- Preparatory steps for the development of an action plan, including guidelines and recommendations for specific research topics and future transport strategies
5th European Conference on ICT for Transport Logistics
7-9 November 2012, Gothenburg, Sweden
This year’s conference will focus on “Smart Freight to enable sustainable logistics solutions” and will highlight innovations and applications in this area. The conference aims to close the gap between research and innovation and the logistics industry, moving research results into real world innovation and driving the competitiveness of European companies in the transport logistics sector. This year’s ECITL features an academic session on Wednesday and a two-day industrial session on Thursday and Friday.
Research and Industry alike are invited to propose interesting contributions to this year’s ECITL line-up.
ITS World Congress

From 22 to 26 October 2012, ERTICO - ITS EUROPE, in close co-operation with its counterpart regional organisations and the Host organisation, is organising the 19th World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) in Vienna, Austria.
The energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly transport policy using intelligent systems and services has continually proved to be of great importance in Europe and worldwide. Within the theme 'Smarter on the way', the Vienna ITS World Congress is going to deal with innovative systems for the improvement of mobility.
TIGER final event
27 September 2012, Brussels, Belgium
TIGER researchers studied ways to reduce congestion of EU ports and roads, improving intermodality, increasing rail freight’s market share and improving the rail network's productivity. Four demonstrators were set up to support the development of intermodality in Europe, looking for the right balance between geographical locations, existing infrastructures, local characteristics, natural barriers, hinterland penetration and environmental protection
