The 11th International Congress on Noise as a Public Health Problem
1-5 June 2014, Nara, Japan
ICBEN 2014, the 11th International Congress on Noise as a Public Health Problem, will be held in Nara, Japan from 2014 June 1 to June 5. The Congress is co-organized by the Institute of Noise Control Engineering of Japan (INCE/J) and the Acoustical Society of Japan (ASJ) under the auspices of the International Commission on the Biological Effects of Noise (ICBEN). The organizers and the Organizing Committee of the Congress extend a warm welcome to all prospective participants worldwide and invite all to join us in Nara to discuss the latest advancements in biological effects of noise and noise policies.
The officers and team chairs of ICBEN will organize plenary and parallel sessions on “Noise-induced hearing loss (Team 1),” “Noise and communication (Team 2),” “Non-auditory effects of noise (Team 3),” “Influence of noise on performance and behavior (Team 4),” “Effects of noise on sleep (Team 5),” “Community response to noise (Team 6),” “Noise and animals (Team 7),” “Interactions with other agents and contextual factors (Team 8)” and “Policy and economics (Team 9).”
European Maritime Day - DG RTD session

Join us at the European Maritime Day on 19-20th May in Bremen!
This year’s European Maritime Day will focus on “Innovation driving Blue Growth” and on this occasion the EU Commission Directorate General for Research and Innovation is organising a thematic session on 20 May in Bremen, Germany, titled “Ocean technologies: an investment for sustainability”.
The session will be a discussion forum on possible ways to enhance European marine and maritime leadership through innovation and research.
It will present concrete examples that can contribute to unlock the innovation potential of seas and oceans in a sustainable way. The event will also be the place to identify innovation challenges and to demonstrate the ocean technologies' innovation and growth potential for multiple "Blue Growth" sectors and their benefit for society.

Several EU projects such as ECO2, MICROB3, BONUS or Sea For Society will take part in the exhibition while Commissioner Damanaki will present the awards to the winner of each of the 14 countries participating in the MARLISCO 's project video competition.

Since 2008, the European Maritime Day is celebrated across Europe on 20 May to raise awareness on the maritime sectors and support an integrated approach to maritime affairs.
It is the European flagship event on the Integrated Maritime Policy with participation of high-level speakers from all over Europe.
