The exponential growth in the volume of personal and professional data raises new challenges. The digital deluge will lead to radically different patterns of behavior on the part of individuals and corporations, revolutionizing service delivery and value creation. Properly processed and analyzed, this data can become “Smart Data”.
Smart Data 2014 is positioned as a think tank for the monetization of digital assets, delivering: • new viewpoints for project initiators in corporate and governmental environments • expert guidance on the protection and analysis of big data • an overview of best practices and the latest solutions.
Euroscience Open Forum - ESOF 2014

ESOF2014 offers a platform where researchers, journalists, policy makers, students and organisations can meet and debate European research and global challenges.
The 2014 meeting is entitled “Science Building Bridges”. The aim of this event is to raise awareness of science in the public and to strengthen the effective “bridges” between science and society.
The scientific programme, covering 8 themes, consists of keynote lectures, seminars, workshops and engaging formats for debating the latest research.

European Maritime Day - DG RTD session

Join us at the European Maritime Day on 19-20th May in Bremen!
This year’s European Maritime Day will focus on “Innovation driving Blue Growth” and on this occasion the EU Commission Directorate General for Research and Innovation is organising a thematic session on 20 May in Bremen, Germany, titled “Ocean technologies: an investment for sustainability”.
The session will be a discussion forum on possible ways to enhance European marine and maritime leadership through innovation and research.
It will present concrete examples that can contribute to unlock the innovation potential of seas and oceans in a sustainable way. The event will also be the place to identify innovation challenges and to demonstrate the ocean technologies' innovation and growth potential for multiple "Blue Growth" sectors and their benefit for society.

Several EU projects such as ECO2, MICROB3, BONUS or Sea For Society will take part in the exhibition while Commissioner Damanaki will present the awards to the winner of each of the 14 countries participating in the MARLISCO 's project video competition.

Since 2008, the European Maritime Day is celebrated across Europe on 20 May to raise awareness on the maritime sectors and support an integrated approach to maritime affairs.
It is the European flagship event on the Integrated Maritime Policy with participation of high-level speakers from all over Europe.
