Industrial Biotechnology in Spain. Identifying Hurdles and Opportunities

The BIO-TIC consortium wish to invite you to a free one-day workshop discussing issues surrounding the uptake of industrial biotechnology in Spain.For Spain to grow and develop its industrial biotechnology base, it will be vital to access EU funding for research and innovation activities.
This is your chance to tell us where the hurdles lie and suggest ways in which they could be addressed. Your input will be crucial in helping us develop an action plan which best addresses the needs of Spanish stakeholders in this strategically important area. This workshop is one of a number of regional workshops being held throughout Europe as part of the BIO-TIC FP7 project, which aims to develop an integrated roadmap and action plan for the successful development of industrial biotechnology in Europe.

Dublin's Festival of Curiosity

25-28 July 2013, Dublin

Dublin’s annual festival of science & culture with FREE events for families to take place from 25 – 28 July 2013. 2012 saw a unique year long celebration of science in Dublin as over 600, 000 people took part in Dublin City of Science 2012 celebrations. Although that year may be over a brand new Festival has evolved from the energy and excitement it generated.

The Festival of Curiosity, Dublin’s annual Festival of Science and Culture, will take place for the very first time this year from 25-28 July. The Festival will provide new opportunities for adults, families and children to come together and experience a hands on adventure in science, play and curious technology. The Festival will transform Dublin’s City Centre into a fun filled curiosity hub for four days in July, with free day-time events for families & children, accompanied by an evening programme of interactive science debates, discussions and shows that will intrigue and challenge the most curious of minds.

21st European Biomass Conference and Exhibition

3-7 June 2013, Copenhagen

For over 30 years now, the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EU BC&E) has combined a very renowned international Scientific Conference with an Industry Exhibition. The EU BC&E is held at different venues throughout Europe and ranks on top of the world's leading events in the Biomass sector.

This EU BC&E is supported by European and international organizations such as the European Commission, UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Natural Sciences Sector, WCRE - the World Council for Renewable Energy, EUBIA - the European Biomass Industry Association, and other organisations. The Technical Programme is coordinated by the European Commission, Joint Research Centre JRC.

Targets and content of the EU BC&E

The Conference will discuss major issues for the biomass markets, in technical and business areas, from resource assessment to market and policy developments, drawing on leading experiences from all over Europe and worldwide. The event aims to encourage an international exchange of experience on policy, research and development, manufacturing and installation, and to be a showcase for the latest technologies. The conference is expanding its coverage on the growing issue of bioeconomy, a sector that has strong links to bioenergy where Denmark became a leading country.
