eFreight 2012 Conference

9-10 May 2012, Delft, the Netherlands

e-Freight denotes the vision for a paper-free, electronic flow of information associating the physical flow of goods with a paperless trail built by Information and Communication Technologies. It includes the ability to track and trace freight along its journey, across transport modes, and to automate the exchange of cargo-related data for regulatory or commercial purposes.

The 2012 e-Freight conference will be organised by EC funded projects, all studying and creating solutions for the e-Freight areas of information exchange in planning, monitoring, invoicing, compliance and reporting for secure mulitmodal freight transport. These projects will also present themselves and their results at the conference.

Take off for PEGASOS - Launch event of the Airborne campaign (Zeppelin)

4 May 2012, Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei, Friedrichshafen, Germany

In May 2012, the Zeppelin New Technology (NT) will embark on a series of campaigns which will be carried out through 2012/2013. The campaigns are part of the pan-European “PEGASOS” project funded by the EU's Seventh Framework Programme for Research (FP7) in which 26 partners from 15 European nations are investigating the relationship between atmospheric chemistry and climate change. The Zeppelin will fly over Europe (Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Slovenia, Italy and France) during three scheduled experimental flights.

The EU’s PEGASOS project (Pan-European-Gas-AeroSOl-Climate Interaction Study) is a large scale project funded by the European Commission under the auspices of the Seventh Framework Programme. The purpose of the project is to investigate key atmospheric processes and to provide the scientific basis for the design of EU-wide climate protection measures as well as improve the quality of air in Europe.

The research will also be available for global climate policy, since most of the project partners are also involved in the work of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
