The conference – considering the document of ‘EUROPE 2020, a strategy for a smart, sustainable and inclusive development strategy’ and the 'Innovation Union Flagship Initiative' - focuses on questions related to knowledge, innovation and competitiveness in economy with respect to research infrastructure investments, clusters and their effects on how they can support smart growth in the regions.
Participation in the Conference is free of charge, but pre-registration is required.

ICT Proposer's Day 2011 is a two-day event featuring networking and partnership building for calls 8 and 9 of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), offering more than one billion euros of EU funding. The event will take place on 19-20 May 2011 in Budapest hosted by the Hungarian Presidency of the European Union.

The conference will take stock of the recent achievements in health related research leading to personalised medicine and will aim at identification and prioritisation of future actions needed at the European level, bringing together European and national – level policy makers, industrial and academic researchers, patients, clinicians and other stakeholders.
The Commissioners for Research and Innovation, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, and for Health and Consumers, John Dalli, will both participate.

On Saturday 7 May, the Research and Innovation DG will be represented at the Open Days of the European Commission at the Berlaymont building from 10am to 6pm.
This year, the Research and Innovation DG will present and promote the Innovation Union on our common stand with the Information Society DG.
For the occasion, we will offer several activities for visitors of all ages! So come and find us at the centre of the Berlaymont building!

This conference will bring together the key stakeholders of the healthcare sector to highlight and discuss the policy developments needed for research and innovation in healthcare at European and National level, in the frame of the Innovation Union and beyond.
The objective of the second edition of this conference is to produce an analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) for innovation in healthcare and make specific recommendations that will be addressed to policy-makers and stakeholders. The whole event will be complemented by a small "fair" where associations and support structures will provide information to the participants.
Commissioner for Research and Innovation, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship, Antonio Tajani, and Commissioner John Dalli, responsible for Health and Consumers, are invited to be among the speakers.
