30 June - 1 July 2010, Brussels
After the severe disturbance of Europe's air traffic by volcanic ash clouds in April and May 2010, aviation has to address intensively the questions about these physical phenomena and their impacts on air transport safety, as well as how the whole air traffic system has been able to cope with this paralysing event. This workshop intends to provide an overview of the state of knowledge of the impact of volcanic ashes on aircraft/engines, information on spreading and concentration of the ash in the atmosphere and the necessary measurement systems. The workshop also intends to present the perspective of the air traffic management and the airlines.
