CLAMER Conference - Living with a Warming Ocean
14-15 September 2011, Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts, Brussels
The one-day conference will present key findings of the FP7 CLAMER project. Leading experts on climate change science (including a representative of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) will give presentations in the morning of 15 September, while three parallel discussion groups (on European marine policies; on science and public awareness; and on research agenda for the future) will be held in the afternoon.
The findings include:
- results of the pan-European public poll, conducted to investigate public views and understanding about climate change and the marine environment;
- main messages from a state-of-the-art overview of results and scientific outputs of marine climate change research in Europe.
The conference will be anticipated on the evening of 14 September with the premiere of the CLAMER documentary "Living with a warming ocean", filmed in seven European countries and focusing on the attitudes towards science communication regarding climate change and its impacts on marine waters.
Participation is free of charge, but registration for the pre-event and/or the conference and discussion groups is required.
