ECTS 2017 – 44th European Calcified Tissue Society Congress

12 May 2016 - 16 May 2017, Salzburg, Austria

One of the great successes of the ECTS scientific programme over time has been due to the principle of bridging the gaps between translational research and clinical application.

The Scientific Programme Committee has continued to develop the programme based on this successful format and has created a stimulating and varied agenda. With more than 500 abstracts regularly submitted over recent years ECTS congresses are renowned for their high scientific quality and we expect the Salzburg meeting to be no exception.

We have also noticed an increase in submissions from further afield which shows us that the ECTS audience is definitely spreading well beyond Europe! There will be plenty of opportunities for you to showcase and discuss your work, with a significant proportion of time set aside for oral and poster presentations, which will include poster tours and e-poster options.

  • Registration starts: 3 October 2016
  • Abstract Submission Deadline: 16 January 2017
  • ECTS 2017 will seek accreditation by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide European external CME credits for medical specialists.

EBN Congress 2016 - Design for Innovation

28-30 September 2016, Guimaraes, Portugal

Whilst technology-driven innovation has been a fundamental contributor to the prosperity of Europe, the recognition is emerging that design-driven, non-technological innovation is now also a route to competitiveness.

The economic significance of design is based on its potential as an enabler to create reliable, desirable, user-driven products and services that are ecologically and economically responsible.

Design is not just about the way things look, it is also about the way they work. Design creates value and contributes to competitiveness, prosperity, and well-being in Europe. That’s why EBN and its member EU|BICs strongly believe that Design for Innovation can contribute to:

  • Business: good design delivers better products, stronger brands, and new markets;
  • Public Sector: good design puts people first, improving the experience and effectiveness of public services;
  • Policy: EU, national and regional policies can help create the conditions for design-driven innovation.

In this context, the 25th EBN Congress intends to be a strong support to design-driven innovation across Europe and the Action Plan for Design-Driven Innovation, as well as to contribute to achieve the following Commission aims:

  • increase the use of design for innovation and growth across Europe;
  • raise awareness of how design-driven innovation increases efficiency in public services and drives business growth;
  • create capacity and competencies to deliver these policies.

FEBS Workshop on Chromatin Proteomics

3-8 October 2016, Heraklion, Crete, Greece

The goal of this workshop is to foster scientific exchange between scientists working on the chromatin proteome, the dynamic behavior of proteins in the nucleus and the integration and visualization of protein and DNA networks.

There will be dedicated sessions on the proteomic analysis of histone modifications, of defined chromosomal domains and of functional proteomics together with sessions on quantitative proteomics, emerging technologies and bioinformatic analysis of large proteomic datasets and their visualization, with lectures given by leading researchers in the field. There will also be two poster sessions and several short oral presentations by junior researchers that will be selected from the abstracts.

In addition, major features of the workshop will be the one-on-one “Problem-Solving” sessions where junior researchers can “book” a meeting with one of the expert speakers of the workshop to discuss issues related to their own projects and the «Meet-the-experts-sessions» where three experts in each case will discuss in greater detail technical aspects and challenges in their areas of research. The workshop will also include talks on career development and funding opportunities for junior scientists in Europe and abroad.

The workshop will take place at the Aldemar Knossos Royal Resort and Conference Center in Hersonissos, near the city of Heraklion in Crete.
