Publication of #ESOF2016 call for Scientific Session Proposals
2 March - 1 June 2015
Over the six days of 22-27 July 2016, Manchester will host the Euroscience Open Forum 2016 "Science as Revolution". ESOF is the biggest pan-European science platform where researchers, journalists, policy makers, students and organisations can meet and debate European research and global challenges.
The call for scientific session for ESOF2016 can be found here. The call is now open and the deadline for session proposals submission is 1 June 2015 at 10:00 am CET
Seminar on HORIZON 2020: An insight into the EU framework programme for research and innovation
4 March 2015, Casablanca, Morocco
The overall objective of the training day is to give an overview of the Horizon 2020 EU programme (how it works, the participation rules, project life cycle etc.) with a focus on the possibilities available for the Mediterranean Partner Countries. Target groups: Public and private research institutions (Universities, Research Centres, Scientific Parks etc.), Industries (Large companies and SMEs).
This training is being held during the innovation week (3-5 March 2015) in Casablanca. It is co organised by the EU projects MENFRI and SOHEALTHY.
BUSINESS & INNOVATION training in the Mediterranean area
5 March 2015, Casablanca, Morocco
The seminar will bring together researchers, representatives of research & technology organisations, SMEs, start ups, technology transfer offices and other stakeholders of the EUROMED innovation ecosystem, aiming to:
- Facilitate the knowledge, innovation and technology transfer from academia to business.
- Support the commercialisation of research results.
- Offer the beneficiaries the opportunity to build better skills on the exploitation of research results emphasising to the soft side of innovation and the role of human capital in TT activities, from research to industry.
- Develop and deepen awareness and usage of commercialisation instruments for research organisations, start-ups and SMEs, and innovation agencies to avoid pitfalls.
This training is organised during the Innovation Week (3-5 March 2015) in Casablanca.
The training is organised by the EU projects MENFRI and MARE.
Pollen is in the air: invasive plants and allergy in our changing environment
5-6 March 2015, Brussels, Belgium
This two-day conference of the EU-funded project Atopica taking place in Brussels on March 5-6th, 2015 is about the combined impact of changes in climate, land use and air pollution on the highly invasive weed Ambrosia artemisiifolia (common ragweed) and its consequences on health.
It will take place at the Committee of the Regions, with the Atopica consortium reporting to journalists, policy makers, Members of European Parliament and interested citizens. The conference will be a two-day event featuring talks by Atopica members, invited speakers and will include workshops, posters and round table sessions.

A decade of fostering attractive research careers - 10th anniversary of Charter and Code
3 March 2015, Brussels
On 3 March 2015, the European Commission will host a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the "European Charter for Researchers and a Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers". University Deans, Rectors and HR Managers of research institutions, having been awarded the "HRS4R acknowledgement" will come together to share their views and experiences on the impact and benefits of running a Human Resource Strategy for Researchers in their institution.
To celebrate the first decade of the Charter and Code, the Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas, will join forces with his 3 predecessors to blow out the candles on the anniversary cake alongside the Director General and high-level representatives from Research Performing Institutions, the European Parliament, the European Commission, Member States, Associated Countries and the press.

Momentum for Europe
2-3 March 2015, Berlin
The European Investment Bank (EIB) will host a series of events on Europe’s innovation and competitiveness under the title ‘Momentum for Europe’.
On day one, participants are invited to a policy debate among relevant stakeholders on high-tech strategy and policies and smart infrastructure contributing to Europe’s economic growth and global competitiveness. EIB President Werner Hoyer is honoured to welcome Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission as well as an impressive array of leading CEO speakers across industries.
On day two, participants may register for a series of workshops featuring EIB and EIF supported projects ranging from risk capital for innovative start-ups to long-term finance for established large corporates. As a participant, you will be provided with hands-on information on tailor made financial solutions for your projects and given the opportunity to draw on the experience of our speakers, whose projects are well advanced, allowing for particular benefit to those whose projects are being launched.
In parallel, the EIB Economics Conference will take place on Tuesday 3 March. This annual event will bring together high level policy-makers, economists and leading market players to openly and freely discuss the most pressing economic challenges facing Europe.
This year’s conference will focus on ‘Investment and Investment Finance in Europe - Investing in Competitiveness and Innovation’. Bringing insights from different angles, participants will share their views and experiences on the challenge of restoring EU competitiveness, structural investment needs and the nature of constraints on investment. The workshop will be organised in the form of three high-level panel sessions.
Bringing urban electric mobility to the next level
27 February 2015, Brussels
The workshop will reflect upon experience of cities in Europe and beyond in promoting electric mobility and the role of national and international frameworks and initiatives.
Potential next steps for collaboration to boost electric mobility around the world will be developed. Different electric mobility experts will present their latest findings and opinions on future developments and needs. Cities are invited to present their experience in implementing electric mobility. The workshop provides a mutual learning opportunity for cities and offers latest insights in the global developments in electric mobility.
