Q: For ERC Grant schemes: Advanced Grant: In case of an ERC Advanced grant, how shall be understood the term 'team'?
A: As stated in the General Features of ERC Grants, the constitution of the research team is flexible. Commonly, it involves researchers from the PI's research group or from the same organisation as "team members". However, depending on the nature of a project the research team may also involve team members from other research organisations situated in the same or a different country. According to the ERC Grant Agreement, "team": means the individual team that consists of a single principal investigator and, as appropriate, other individuals, members of the team; "team members" mean contributing investigators to the project under the scientific guidance of the principal investigator. Full description of this term is clearly explained in the ERC ADG Guide for Applicants (available on the ERC website at URL: http://erc.europa.eu/.) NB: It is up to the PI to decide on the composition of the team; he/she may include team members from the same or other research institutions. In cases where team members from other (in particular overseas) research institutions participate, the scientific added value must have been properly justified and accepted during evaluation by the ERC peer review evaluation panels.
