Q: Why are Marie Curie and SME actions going to the Research Executive Agency?
A: These actions have two characteristics that distinguish them from most of the collaborative research. Firstly, they have high numbers of relatively small contracts and secondly, individual projects have little or no link to the definition of scientific priorities, i.e. they lack direct links to policy. As the project cycle to be implemented is purely a management one, the implementation tasks can typically be entrusted to an executive agency.
