Increasing impact from publicly funded research - Lessons from the bioeconomy

COST Connect: Water for Food and Agriculture in the Mediterranean Area

Water for food and agriculture is an important topic on the agenda. COST supports more than 20 Actions in this area and European stakeholders intensively discuss the issue with a strong focus on the Mediterranean area.

COST aims to provide networking opportunities to structure this important field, to link the active researchers with policy stakeholders and thus connect the dots in the European Research Area.

The event aims to increase awareness on the different relevant funding opportunities in the field and how to access them. Participants will decide on the issues to discuss, such as emerging S&T topics in the field, identifying potential future research cooperation.

WIRE 2017 (Week for Innovative Regions in Europe)

28-30 June 2017, Košice, Slovakia

The 8th edition of the WIRE Conference is hosted by the Technical University of Košice and will take place from 28 to 30 June 2017 in Košice, Slovakia. The conference theme is 'Socially responsible, creative and trusted regional innovation in the digital era' and will cover topics like widening participation, digital innovation and much more.

WIRE provides a forum for policy dialogue on Research, Innovation, Regional Strategies and Growth. Held since 2010, it has been established as a debate leading to new proposals for improving the effectiveness of regional, national and European governance, measuring the impact and supporting regional development.

Science Café with Jan Konvalinka

Science Café with Jan Konvalinka is an unconventional open discussion on research in the field of biochemistry.

Our guest is a recognized scientist, who was involved in development of the first inhibitors of the HIV protease. Currently he is focused on viral resistance development.

Dr. Konvalinka holds position of vice-rector for research at the Charles University in Prague and head of department at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Science Café is a forum for discussion of current work and interesting scientific issues. It aims to be informal and accessible.

Anyone can participate; speaker is there to be questioned and to talk about his work

eStandards Final Conference

The eStandards consortium is pleased to announce the eStandards Final Conference. This two-day event will take place in Brussels hosted by CEN TC251 at the CEN-CENELEC premises, Avenue Marnix 17, on June 26-27, 2017.

You are invited to think of a global eHealth ecosystem where we all enjoy timely safe and informed health anytime anywhere and interoperability assets fuel creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation.

In this eStandards conference, you will be part of in-depth discussions on the future of eHealth Standards that really impact the digital future of health. We will present the core elements of the final eStandards roadmap and discuss the way to create a new generation of eHealth standards that nurture Trust and Flow, strengthen Europe’s voice, and enable co-creation in interoperability with trusted dialogs on health, costs, and plans to meet great expectations for large-scale eHealth deployment.

eStandards that help move forward with large-scale eHealth deployment in Europe, stepping forward from current best practices and employing the tools of the digital age will be discussed in four focus areas: (e) patient summaries for emergency and unplanned care (b) identification of medicines (c) chronic disease management (d) european reference networks for rare diseases Stay tuned!

4th European Conference for Science Journalists

27th June, Copenhagen: Rolf Heuer and Henrik Wegener at the 4th European Conference for Science Journalists – plenary session "Make scientific facts great again".

3rd Congress of the European Academy of Neurology

These are exciting times for Neurology. New diseases are being defined, new procedures are developed and introduced in clinical practice resulting in more accurate diagnosis, complex disease mechanisms are more and more unravelled, and current treatment options are extending.
