Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is a major public health problem. The APRES study is being carried out in nine European countries and collects data on antibiotic resistance patterns and antibiotic prescriptions in a primary care setting. This information will be used to formulate recommendations for evidence-based antibiotic treatment guidelines in primary health care in Europe.
