The first area is entitled: 'Translating the results of clinical research
outcome into clinical practice including better use of medicines, and
appropriate use of behavioural and organisational interventions and new
health therapies and technologies'.
The main objectives are to better understand clinical decision making and to establish the appropriate use of behavioural and organisational interventions, new health therapies and technologies that are evidence-based.
Special attention is to be given to patient safety, identifying the best clinical practice; understanding decision making in clinical settings in primary and specialised care; and fostering applications of evidence-based medicine and patient empowerment.
The focus is on the benchmarking of strategies; investigating outcomes of different interventions including medicines, taking into consideration pharmacovigilance evidence, specificities of the patient (e.g. genetic susceptibility, age, gender and adherence) and cost benefits.
This area has 28 projects accounting for some EUR 67.5 million in the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) funding support.
