A selection of ongoing EU research projects
Each year, new projects are launched, having benefited from a European research grant
In 2008, more than 900 proposals competed for funding in the second FP7 call. Only the 172 best projects received funding, receiving a total amount of € 577 million.
These usually last 3-5 years. Typically, the longer projects have 10-15 partners and an EC contribution of € 5-12 million. The smaller research projects have 8-10 partners and an EC contribution of € 2-6 million.
*FP7 (2007-2013)
So far, in FP7, 420 projects were selected for funding

www.healthcompetence.eu, a new interactive platform on European health research
On 8 June 2010, the new online platform www.healthcompetence.eu was presented at the Information day on FP7 Health Research organised by the European Commission. This new platform includes all projects related to life science and health supported by the European Commission since 2004. Far from being a static database, it aims to present the projects’ latest results in terms of technology offers, patents and publications. The platform also offers a row of interactive search devices which facilitate the identification of potential collaboration partners and the set up of partnerships between academia and industry in health research. The prototype of the platform was launched during the BIO Conference in Chicago in May 2010 and has already raised a lot of interest.
