The European Commission, DG Research in partnership with the European Society of Cardiology, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes and the European Kidney Health Alliance has organised a two-day conference in Brussels. It gathered experienced people from the scientific community and industry working in different cardiovascular disease (CVD) and adjacent research areas (e.g. diabetes/obesity, nephrology) to reflect on the current situation in the field, to identify promising on-going European, international and national initiatives, to discuss their findings and future ways forward for the CVD area and at its interface with diabetes/obesity and kidney domains. The aim of the conference was to assess the conditions favouring the emergence, consolidation and expansion of advancements and innovations in the CVD field and their translational potential.
