The photo exhibition "The Neglected" for the World AIDS day 2010

1 December at 17:30, Berlaymont building (1st floor hall), Brussels, Belgium

The Health Directorate of DG Research, in collaboration with the AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW) and the photographer David Gillanders, has organised the exhibition "The Neglected" to commemorate World AIDS day on 1 December 2010.

Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn will open the event on 1 December at 17:30 at the Berlaymont building (1st floor hall), followed by a cocktail reception.

The exhibition aims to highlight this year's theme for World AIDS day, "Universal Access and Human Rights", while drawing attention to the support of the Commission for HIV/AIDS research. The photos illustrate in a striking way the harsh reality of the most vulnerable and neglected people infected with HIV or at high risk of infection in Eastern Europe and Central Asia region, affected by the one of the fastest growing HIV epidemic.
