Director, University Medical Centre Ljubljana
Director of University Medical Centre Ljubljana, the biggest hospital in Slovenia and one of the biggest in region with more than 100.000 inpatients and more than 750.000 outpatient visits for all medical specialties. The program is performed with 7.600 employees of which more than 1.200 MD's and 3.500 nursing staff.
Previously at Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia (HIIS) as a Director of Regional Unit (RU) Ljubljana. RU Ljubljana is the biggest regional unit of HIIS with 180 employees. RU is responsible for one third of all Slovenian citizens and almost forty percents of all public resources spent for health care in Slovenia. RU is contracting more than four hundred health care providers including University Medical Center Ljubljana.
During that period also a member of consulting team on the WB sponsored project Audit of Health Care Institutions Contracting with HIF in Serbia.
He was also a State Secretary on Ministry of Health of Republic of Slovenia. Areas of work were healthcare system financing, resources allocation and organization of the healthcare system. In 2003 a co-author of Slovenian healthcare reform with which in Slovenian health sector, especially at healthcare providers, tools to develop more efficient and effective management of public healthcare providers were implemented.
From 1997 to 2000 had been working as Assistant Medical Director for the area of quality and organization in University Medical Center Ljubljana. Scope of work had been the implementation of the system of internal control and the responsibility for the implementation of the self assessment model of the departments on the basis of the EFQM model.
