Maria A. FIGUEROLA SANTOS

Maria Figuerola is a national expert at the Health and Consumers DG of the European Commission.

Previously Maria Figuerola has served as Head of the Pharmaceutical Unit at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism in Spain. With 19 years of experience, she has worked both for the private sector and as civil servant.

In the European Commission, Maria Figuerola is in charged of the regulation for advanced therapies and represents this institution in the Committee for Advanced Therapies at the European Medicines Agency.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Figuerola has planned and coordinated several research programs for the pharmaceutical and sanitary technologies sectors in Spain.

Mrs. Figuerola is an industrial engineer specialised in business management at the catholic University of Comillas in Madrid. Mrs. Figuerola also completed her engineering project at the Polytechnic University in Paris.
