Henriette VAN EIJL

Dr. Henriette van Eijl's main responsibilities are to coordinate and implement the activities of the Lead Market Initiative and, secondly, to contribute to the development of future European innovation policy activities in the European Commission's Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry's Innovation Policy unit, in particularly responsible for developing activities in the areas of societal challenges and social innovation.
After a doing her BSc (King's College) and MSc (Imperial College) in London, Henriette worked in industry, before going up to Oxford University where she completed a DPhil (PhD) in molecular biology. Subsequently, she was recruited by the European desk of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. The Dutch government seconded her to the European Commission's Research Directorate-General's Health and Biotechnology Directorate, where she was a fund/project manager for four years. This was followed in May 2007 by a permanent posting at EC into her current position.
Henriette is a keen rower (Oxford University Blue) and is a co-founder of a professional network of Dutch speaking women in Brussels
